Approximate. Use your institution's official method for applications.
There is no single official way to convert CGPA to percentage. Some boards and universities publish a multiplier, others use their own formula or table. Pick a method, enter your CGPA, and see the approximate percentage, or switch direction to convert a percentage back to CGPA.
How This Calculator Works
Multiply by a factor: percentage = CGPA x factor, and CGPA = percentage / factor. For example, 8.2 x 9.5 = 77.9%. Reversing 75% gives 75 / 9.5 = 7.89 CGPA. Custom formula: percentage = (CGPA - a) x b, using the values your institution publishes. Simple proportion: percentage = CGPA / scale maximum x 100, so 3.4 on a 4.0 scale is 85% (a rough estimate).
Why Use This Calculator

- β’Work on a 10, 4, 5 or custom scale
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 9.5 the official factor everywhere?
No. It is widely used, but each university or board can publish its own conversion.
Which method should I use for applications?
Use the method your institution or the receiving organisation specifies. If none is given, it is often safest to quote the CGPA together with its scale.
Why does the simple proportion give a different answer?
It assumes a straight line from 0 to the scale maximum, which most official formulas do not.
