SGPA Calculator

Calculate your semester grade point average (SGPA) on the 10-point scale from grade points and credits.

Subjects

6 of 15 subjects

Approximate percentage

9.5 is a commonly used factor on the 10-point scale. Many universities use a different formula, so replace it with your institution's official one.

Total credits

14

Total grade points

117

SGPA

8.36

Semester GPA

Approx. percentage

79.39%

Factor 9.5

How it adds up

O (10) x 4 = 40

A+ (9) x 3 = 27

A (8) x 3 = 24

B+ (7) x 2 = 14

B (6) x 2 = 12

Formula: SGPA = total grade points / total credits = 117 / 14 = 8.36

SGPA is your semester grade point average: the credit-weighted average of the grade points you earned in one semester. Pick each subject's grade, enter its credits, and the calculator shows your SGPA. The grade-point table is editable because universities use slightly different scales.

How This Calculator Works

SGPA = sum of (grade points x credits) / sum of credits. Each subject contributes its grade points multiplied by its credits, and the total is divided by the total credits taken. For example, O (10) x 4 credits = 40; A+ (9) x 3 = 27; A (8) x 3 = 24; B+ (7) x 2 = 14; B (6) x 2 = 12. Total grade points are 117 over 14 credits, giving an SGPA of 8.36. Rows without a grade or with 0 credits are ignored.

Why Use This Calculator

  • β€’Calculate one semester's SGPA from each subject's grade and credits
  • β€’Edit the grade-point table to match your university's regulations
  • β€’See total credits and total grade points behind the final number
  • β€’Convert SGPA to an approximate percentage with an adjustable factor

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?

SGPA covers one semester. A cumulative average combines all semesters, weighted by credits, using your university's formula. The CGPA to Percentage Converter can then turn that figure into an approximate percentage.

Do all universities use the same grade points?

No. Many use a 10-point scale like the one above, but the letters and values differ, so edit the table to match your regulations.

Are failed or absent subjects included?

Many universities count them with zero grade points, but rules differ, so check your university's regulations.
