The Salary Tax and Zakat Calculator combines two tools in one. The salary tax section estimates your annual income tax using editable tax slabs, currently set to Pakistan's FY 2026-27 salaried individual rates. The Zakat section calculates 2.5% Zakat on your net liquid assets after subtracting short-term liabilities, with a nisab threshold check using live gold or silver prices.

How This Calculator Works

For salary tax: enter your annual salary and the calculator applies each slab rate to the portion of income that falls within it. For example, at PKR 1,800,000 annual income under the FY 2026-27 slabs: the first PKR 600,000 is tax-free, the next PKR 600,000 is taxed at 1% (PKR 6,000), and the remaining PKR 600,000 is taxed at 11% (PKR 66,000), for a total tax of PKR 72,000. For Zakat: if your net liquid assets (assets minus liabilities) exceed the nisab threshold, 2.5% is due. With $500,000 in net liquid assets and $100,000 in liabilities, the zakatable amount is $400,000 and Zakat due is $10,000.

How is Zakat calculated on net liquid assets?

Zakat is 2.5% of your net liquid assets (cash, savings, investments, and gold/silver) minus short-term liabilities, provided the net amount exceeds the nisab threshold. Nisab is the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. If your net assets are below nisab, no Zakat is due.

Should I use gold or silver nisab for Zakat?

Many scholars recommend using silver nisab (612.36 grams) because it results in a lower threshold, meaning more people qualify to pay Zakat. Others use gold nisab (87.48 grams). This calculator defaults to silver nisab but lets you switch. Consult a qualified scholar for your specific situation.

What counts as liquid assets for Zakat?

Cash in hand and bank accounts, savings, investments (stocks, mutual funds, bonds), gold and silver holdings, and money owed to you that is expected to be recovered. Subtract short-term debts and obligations due within the year.
